About Career and Technical Education

Are you an experienced, skilled tradesperson who would like to pass on your knowledge to others? Buffalo State's Career and Technical Education program can help you do just that. Our program prepares students to teach their skills in city high schools, area vocational schools, technical institutes, correctional facilities, and community colleges. As a career and technical education major, you will learn how to plan, instruct, and manage lessons in a wide variety of classroom settings.

Career Fairs: At an average CTE Career Fair, 16 career clusters and more than 200 occupations will be represented by CTE students and field professionals who will present hands-on activities and information relating to the occupational outlook and salary range of each career area.

Technology and Engineering Education Collegiate Association (TEECA): Buffalo State’s official Student Chapter of TEECA provides an opportunity for career and technical education students to socialize, network with one another, and compete in various technical and problem-solving competitions.

TEECA Eastern Regional Conference: Held in Virginia Beach, Virginia, this annual competition consists of competitive challenges across numerous categories between collegiate level technology education programs from across the eastern third of the United States. Every other year, the Buffalo State Team attends the Eastern Regional competition, which consists of competitive challenges across numerous categories between collegiate level technology education programs from across the eastern third of the United States. Students use their own resources to cover transportation, registration, and housing costs. 

Internships provide real-world experience that make graduates highly sought-after professionals in their chosen fields. Typically, our CTE interns mentor adolescent or adult students and demonstrate their skills at local schools. Recent internship placements include:
